10 Reasons Why Being Married is Awesome!

Kane and I have been married for almost three months now and it’s seriously been super awesome. People have asked me how married life is going and if anything feels different? Well, married life is awesome. Is it work? Absolutely, but that’s with every relationship. Does anything feel different? No, not really…besides being called Erica Michelsen now and seeing my different last name on documents.

Other than that, it’s been really cool. Walking around with a ring on my finger, looking at Kane’s finger and seeing his ring, calling him my husband when I introduce him to others or when I’m talking about him, talking about our future together, talking about “when OUR kids..”, looking at houses and discussing what we want…ugh, the list could go on and on!

Now let me tell you why being married is awesome!

1) Always have a best friend

Kane IS my best friend. And it’s seriously so awesome always having a best friend. Friends come and go in your life but I know that forever I will have a best friend 24/7!

2) Always have someone to do stuff with

When I was single, I would have dates with myself. I’d go to movies by myself, order food by myself, have a night in with myself, go shopping by myself. Now, if I want to go see a movie, I always have someone to go with. If I want to go for a walk, I have someone to go with. If I want to go to a pumpkin patch, I have someone to do that with.

3) Always have someone to come home to

Kane will always be someone that I come home to. Whether that’s if I run an errand quick, go pick something up, come home from work (even though we both have been remotely working from home since March), come home from a weekend spent with family, or coming home from having a girls’ night with my girlfriends. Kane is always there when I come home and it’s such a warm feeling knowing that.

4) Having a future with someone

We can actually start planning our future together. Yes, when we got engaged we did that but now it’s all real. Looking at houses, combining bank accounts, talking about our kids and when we want them…many, many, things!

5) Always have a teammate

Going into marriage, Kane and I both knew that we would be a team. Where he goes, I go. Where I go, he goes. (don’t worry, we do have girls’ nights and guys’ nights). We constantly encourage and motivate each other to be the person that we want to be and what God wants us to be.

6) Have security/protection

A need for a woman is security and protection. I have that constantly now. I know that Kane will always protect me and be my security blanket no matter what. He chose me as his number 1 (aside from God) and he will stand up for me. That’s how a marriage is.

7) Life-long sex partner

Yes, a life-long sex partner. AND THAT IS INCREDIBLE! I’m not going to get into detail with this one. You all know.

8) Someone to always make more and more memories with

Kane and I love, love, love making memories with each other, even when it’s just something extremely small that no one would ever know. Every single second of the day is a memory in the making when it comes to being married. I love it so much!

9) You don’t always have to make difficult decisions alone

If most of you all know me, I’m a very indecisive person and I’m constantly questioning myself and overthinking. Kane is there to bring me back down to earth and to talk it out with me. He’s always there when making decisions, even when it’s extremely difficult for me.

10) Always have someone to be in sync with

It’s crazy how this works. I swear we get into each other’s minds all the time but it’s awesome. We do literally finish each other’s sentences or pick up on each other’s body language, thoughts and emotions. He knows when something is wrong with me, when something is bugging me or when something is on my mind that I need to talk to him about. Kane even picks up on my body language when I’m sad, mad, extremely happy or just want to be left alone and in quiet place. It’s an incredible feeling!

Being married is awesome. Especially if it’s with someone that is your best friend and you can do anything and everything with. God truly knew what he was doing when he placed Kane in my life. I’ve always imagined being married to someone but WOW, once it happens and you know it’s with the right person, it’s an incredible feeling.

I wish for everyone to feel for someone the way that I feel for Kane. I wish that SOOOOO MUCH for everyone. And if you already have that, that’s amazing!
